The rules of English make about as much sense as Imperial weights and measures.

A husband has come to pick up his wife from the airport. He was rather looking crestfallen. The wife was little disappointed when she saw him. Her eyes fell on the other man who looked happy.

The wife pointing at the other guy said: ‘See how happy he looks and you are so grumpy.’

In the same sour mood, the husband replied: ‘Of course, he would look happy. He has come to see his wife off and not to pick her up.’
